About Us

Mission Statement:  Helping meet the nutritional, emotional and spiritual needs of others through the generosity of 'neighbors helping neighbors' throughout King George County and surrounding communities.

Love Thy Neighbor's leadership team is made up of dedicated volunteers with diverse denominational backgrounds.  We also have 30-50 additional volunteers participating at each monthly event.   If you are interested in our volunteer program, please visit our page by clicking on the 'Volunteer' tab above.  Many businesses, organizations and churches are currently partnering with us in our effort to reach out to our community.  Thank you all for your generosity and faithfulness!

Our Community Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen has provided meals and groceries to over 4,000  households......approximately 9,000 men, women and children, supplying and serving at least 150 meals at each monthly event.  This varies from 85-100 family units per month made up of: Seniors ~ Veterans ~ Disabled persons ~ Unemployed & under-employed ~ Families w/children (many in blended & extended families).

Love Thy Neighbor is a 'patron-choice' food pantry, which allows families and individuals to shop in an attractive setting organized similar to a grocery store. A wide range of breakfast items, canned goods (tuna, chicken, vegetables, fruit, soup), peanut butter and jelly, boxed pasta meals, spaghetti sauce with pasta, seasonal produce from the King George Farmer's Market, fresh fruit, bread and on occasion ~ refrigerated and frozen foods are offered at no cost to patrons. This, in addition to much needed hygiene items.  Our 'patron-choice' pantry upholds the dignity of the families and individuals we serve. The advantages of a 'patrons-choice' pantry are:

•A sense of self-esteem for patrons and their families

•Higher patron satisfaction with food they are able to choose

•Less waste and, therefore, less cost in providing food to patrons

•Greater opportunities for positive and supportive social interaction between LTN volunteers and patrons

We have reached out to our King George and surrounding area neighbors to offer a time of fellowship and support through our Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.  Many months we start with a depleted food pantry and must work diligently and persistently  throughout the month to restock the pantry and collect monetary funds to provide the ongoing service.

Our goal is to work towards  sponsorships and  grants to help stabilize our funds.  This would enable us to provide more nutritional food choices, promote supplemental programs to help individuals become more self-sufficient  and additional services to assist in our Community’s physical and mental health needs.

We continue with this opportunity to serve, help, share and encourage others as a non-profit ministry ~ partnering with other non-profits, such as the Lunch Bunch Program, Project Inasmuch, MARS Hill Youth Events, Senior Navigator, TRIAD and in addition, the KG County school backpack, DECA and community service hours for students programs to not only provide and share information and resources but also guide our neighbors in the right direction for particular services they may need.

There are many within the King George area and surrounding counties who have reached out to help in our effort ~ businesses, organizations, churches, friends and neighbors.  Please visit our 'Volunteer' page for ways you can help.
