Ryan Ragsdale (Executive Director) Ryan Ragsdale works as a software engineer in his weekday job. He started volunteering for Love Thy Neighbor (LTN) around 2016, was appointed to the LTN board in 2019, and became president at the beginning of 2021. He believes in lowering barriers to folks who need help, creating a system that will help people thrive, and empowering LTN volunteers so they can be amazing.

Miriam Niemi (Vice President) Miriam has been a resident of King George County for 16 years with a passion for serving her community. Her and husband have five children, and Miriam has become deeply involved in various non-profit organizations, embodying her belief in the importance of community service. Currently she serves as a preschool specials teacher for the King George YMCA. Miriam brings her commitment to education and child development to her professional role. In addition to her work at the YMCA, Miriam has held and continues to hold leadership positions in several non-profit organizations, including President of the King George Preschool PTA, Vice President of the PTA at Sealston Elementary, and Cub Scout committee chair and Den leader for eight and five years, respectively. Miriam’s dedication to community involvement extends beyond education and youth development; she also serves as the Relief Society President for the King George chapter, providing support and humanitarian aid through one of the oldest women’s organizations in the United States. Miriam’s contributions to her community also include serving as a board member for the Continuum of Care, where she works to address issues of homelessness and housing insecurity. With her recent role as Cub Scout Cub Master, Miriam continues to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in King George County. Through her tireless efforts and commitment to service, Miriam exemplifies the values of leadership, compassion, and community engagement.

Michelle Prasser (Treasurer) Michelle was born and raised in Charles County, Maryland. In August 2021, Michelle and her husband became residents of King George County. Michelle is our newly appointed Treasurer at Love Thy Neighbor, and we are so happy to have her in this role! Before moving to King George, Michelle worked for a teachers’ union for 32 years, working between human rights and community relations and member benefits. She attended St. James Episcopal Church and also served as a Sunday school teacher, as the Alter Guild and on the church’s vestry. She now attends Lifepoint Fredericksburg and loves volunteering at Love Thy Neighbor. In her free time, she loves camping, gardening, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family, who all live here in King George.

Ryan Wankel (Chairman) Ryan has owned KOIK Removal Solutions for 20 years and is in the downsizing/removal business. His greatest joy in life is helping others, which he gets to do nearly every day in his line of work. Ryan resides in Spotsylvania County with his son Henry.

Melissa Stewart (At-Large) Melissa joined Love Thy Neighbor during the holidays at the end of 2022. She quickly became a staple of helping wherever needed and loving on our patrons and volunteers alike. If asked, she would say the same thing today! Melissa’s primary focus is grant writing and donation coordination, and she can also be found registering patrons, picking up groceries for us every week, stocking shelves, and counting inventory. Melissa and her husband moved to King George in 2008 after completing his obligations to the United States Army. She has been a Realtor locally since 2002 and has lived in this region her entire life. She is a member of VAR, NAR, and FAAR and serves on the Grievance Committee. Her family loves this community and cares deeply about advancing our mission. When she is not at the pantry, she enjoys traveling as much as possible and spending time with her two grown children and her two puppies.

Lisa Grandstaff (At-Large) Lisa Grandstaff works as an operations and facilities manager in her weekday job but also owns her own construction and home improvement company with her husband. Lisa started volunteering at Love Thy Neighbor in July 2019 with Lifepoint Church in King George. Upon the closing of that campus, Lisa went to Oak Grove Baptist Church in April of 2021 and continued to volunteer at Love Thy Neighbor. Lisa now leads a Host Team of Volunteers who volunteer the first Sunday of every month at Love Thy Neighbor and a delivery team that delivers meals weekly from the pantry to patrons who are unable to shop for themselves. Lisa was appointed to the Board on 10/03/2023. 

Erica Dutcher (At-Large) Erica is a passionate champion for marginalized and underserved communities, and she brings a wealth of nonprofit experience to our board. With a background in administration and organizational infrastructure, she has spent several years working tirelessly to support the local homeless community through her time with Micah Ministries. Erica is deeply committed to fostering community well-being and believes strongly in neighbors taking care of neighbors. Her profound understanding of available resources in the region has been instrumental in developing effective strategies for partnership and advocacy. Beyond her professional endeavors, she loves gardening and cooking and curling up with a good book or watching a scary movie!
